Every child and adult must read Giant Steps to Change the World. In his newest book, Spike Lee with his wife Tonya Lewis Lee highlights some of the greatest stories of all time in this children’s book. Each page presents the hero’s story in one to two sentences, using no names but highlighting the hard work it took to make these significant changes, such as civil rights, scientific advancement and personal triumphs. Bear and Bunny Grow Tomatoes
I like this book because not only does the diligent Bear have success, but is able to help the cheerfully ignorant Bunny. Bear works hard and does everything right, and reaps a great harvest of tomatoes, while the good-intentioned party animal Bunny slacks his way to nothing but a gift from grocers. Bear, all the while dwelling in couch potato obliviousness. [i.e., Bear is Physics major, Bunny a Philosopher] (Phillip Taylor)
Now Discover Your Strengths
This book teaches you how to first acknowledge your talents, and then develop them. One of the tools used is the Gallup Strength Finder. I took the Strength Finder exam and discovered that I am an achiever, a learner, very disciplined, a relater, and strategic. Each of these is distinct ways of thinking. Once your strengths are discovered, the book teaches you the obstacles to building your strengths and helps you understand why so many people are reluctant to building on their strengths. The Witch Hunt of Early Modern Europe
The Witch Hunt of Early Modern Europe by Brian P. Lavaca is one of my favorite books. The book tells about the superstition of witchcraft and witches in Early Modern Europe. The witch hunts last from the Medieval Times all the way to the Enlighten Period. I’m interested in this book because history has always been a favorite subject of mine along with my interest in the unknown. This book touches both subjects with a sense of tension and thrill. (Christopher Wyche)
The Collected Prose of Robert Frost
I really enjoy reading the works of Robert Frost. His poetry is full of interesting and exciting words that fill the imagination. I really like this book because it breaks down his poetry into different parts and explains the meaning behind his words. The book also shares his life experiences and prose. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone and everyone who enjoys poetry. (Elisabeth Schaffer)
Herbs for Health and Healing
I really enjoyed this book because it deals with holistic medicine. I am pre natural medicine and really do not believe in the big corporations who have a monopoly over the entire market. I really love to learn the old healing medicine used back in the old days. This book gives basic insight and more advanced insight into the world of natural healing. (Jessica Billy)
The Witch-Hunt
During the medieval time witch hunting went on all over. This book describes the superstition that surrounded them and how they thought most women were the witches. It also pinpoints the differences among the different times of witch craft.(Jasmine Jefferson)
